First and foremost, Happy New Year peeps~!!
To start off the year, well, here’s a rather interesting food place that you must check out.
Briyani or Biryani, Beriani as known by some, is an Iran-derived recipe of rice with spices and occasionally with vegetable, meat, fish, lamb, poultry and etc. Brought by merchants and traders to South Asia, it has grown in varieties, elaborations and flavors for generations now in various countries. You may read up more about it here.
Hence, no surprise, you may commonly find briyani as one of the rice options offered at Nasi Campur / Nasi Kandar places. However, those though common to most, is not exactly the real thing.
And to save us from being deviated, ‘real’ briyani serving restaurants comes to town.
One of them, being in Bukit Tinggi Klang since a couple of years ago, is Tetra House of Briyani.
The name says it all, they serve more than a dozen of Briyani Rice flavors and occasionally, one or two daily Briyani Specials. Apart from that, a Sri Lankan (we believe) based recipe dishes like the Apam, White Rice with Traditional Dish Options were also available. Not forgetting some local favorites like Nasi Lemak, Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice) and many more.
Located along Jalan Batu Nilam 4a, Bukit Tinggi Klang, in a shop lot that looks like any other, the place isn’t anything to shout about. That’s till you walk in. Walking in, one will notice an Apam making counter over on the right, next to the cashier counter, and right next to that, is two boards. Regularly updated, one of the Board will constantly have new meaningful ‘Wise Sayings’ about Life and it’s value, while the 2nd Board would show their Daily Specials, which is often the attention of many.
Tables and seats settings are typically a Malaysian restaurant, having to be able to fit from 4 up to a dozen or two.
But what we would really want to share is still their signature Briyani Rice flavors. They comes in a huge variety (like mentioned almost a dozen) namely, Chicken, Kurma Chicken, Masala Chicken, Vegetarian Chicken, Vegetarian, Mutton, Fish, and many more.
All Briyani Rice dish, would come with a metal bowl, stuffed (yest stuffed) with spice-rich Briyani Rice with the necessary ingredient (depending on whatever flavor you choose), coupled with a generous amount of papadam, a bowl of dhalcha and Indian salad. What’s an Indian Salad? Well imagine, dice, cucumber, onions, tomatoes, chilies in freshly made yogurt.
To start off, you ‘unload the contents of the bowl over a spread of banana leave, then mixed and spread them really well. Scoop some dhalcha over a spoon full of rice and ENJOY~!!.
We must say, what’s best about Tetra’s Briyani, is how spice-rich and aromatic their Basmati cooked, Briyani Rice is, and the delicious dishes they have. Also, to note, their daily specials are often finish before end of the day, especially the Vegetarian Chicken Briyani which is our very favorite even till today.
And to compliment that, with their Masala Tea. Ahhhh
This short post doesn’t do the place much justice, as we were always busy chomping down the delicious food when we were there and never really had a chance to snap some good photo before we reach in for the food.
To find out, you would really need to check them out.
